CBSE, ICSE and Maharashtra State Board announces the cancellation of Class 10th examination.

Recently, After Prime Minister’s discussion with the Education Minister and other officials, on 14th April, 2021 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the cancellation of Class 10th examination which was to be held from 4th May to 7th June, 2021 and postponement of Class 12th examination which was to be held from 4th May to 14th June, 2021.

The Board had to take this unexpected decision due to current pandemic effects. By considering the safety and well-being of the students, they mentioned that Class 12th exams will be conducted later after reviewing the situation on 1st June, 2021. While Class 10th students will be promoted based on an objective criterion to be given by CBSE Board. In case if the student is not satisfied with his/her results, they will be given a chance to appear in the exam when the condition is favourable.

The Council of Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) board has mentioned that, the safety and well-being of their students and teaching faculty is their topmost priority. So therefore, ICSE Class 10th board examination has also been cancelled. 

Earlier, because of the second wave of Covid CISCE board had postponed Class 10th and Class 12th examinations.

But looking into the current scenario, our country has witnessed over 2 lakh cases consecutively from last week. Hence the board had decided to cancel Class 10th examination.

Examination for Class 12th  will be conducted later on. Meanwhile the results of Class 10th will be evaluated with a fair and unbiased criteria. The result dates will be announced later. Admissions for Class 11th and online classes must begin at the earliest at affiliated schools, The board added.

Along with CBSE and ICSE today Maharashtra State board has also announced the cancellation of 2021 board examination for Class 10th  prioritising health and safety of students and teachers. While states like Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Nagaland have planned to conduct board examinations for students.
