Bangalore City to Bangalore International Airport Train ran empty:

When the suburban train was launched on January 4 of this year, which allows commuters to travel Bangalore international airport (BIA) with really cheap price of Rs. 10. It was thought to be a game changer, but it’s more of a game over now.

Based on the data provided by South Western Railways, up to January 21, the train ran empty on more than 10 raids (to and from) since the service started.

The Railways Officials couldn’t explain why such less count, since it’s both beneficial and affordable. They also mentioned that there haven’t been a major delay on arrival and reaching airport except for January 20, that when there was a weld problem as told by railways official TNM.

Each train have a capacity for about 610 passengers, but only problem is no one willing to take one. The train had single digit passengers for more than 20 occasions in past 2 weeks, which of course is a serious loss.

The official claimed that the less count might be due to pandemic. But also the train to airport at this price should attract large crowds but what happened was a contradictory. SWR will discuss the timing to Bangalore international airport. The train expected to benefit not just passengers boarding plane but also 20,000 employees working at airport.

The train connects about 35 km from Bangalore city to Kempegowda International Airport in less than an hour. Five pairs of trains were launched. This must have been a game changer as quoted by the service for such cheap price, lesser than any public transport or cab.

The five train operates from different parts of the city. Two trains from the KSR Railway station one at 4:45 am and the other at 9 pm. The other three train operates from Yelahanka, Yeswanthpur and Cantonment at 7 am, 8:23 am and 5:55 pm respectively. The earliest train to airport at 6:23 am and the last at 10:38 pm.

“In the long run, the trains will help Bengaluru by providing a practical option for commuting to and from Airport. But, for this to happen, everyone has to do their bit to promote, popularise and patronise these trains, so that they become more and more useful,” activist Rajkumar Dugar said. He has prepared a user-friendly timetable of the trains to the airport from Bengaluru.
